Erdem Yörük

Erdem Yörük is Professor of Sociology at Koç University and Director of the Center for Computational Social Sciences. He is also an Associate Member of the Department of Social Policy and Intervention at the University of Oxford and a member of the Science Academy of Turkey.
His research focuses on social policy, political sociology, social movements, and computational social science. He has led several major international research projects funded by the European Research Council (ERC), the European Commission, the US National Science Foundation, and other funding bodies. His research increasingly combines social science theory with computational methods, including natural language processing, machine learning, and large language models.
He is the author of The Politics of the Welfare State in Turkey (University of Michigan Press, 2022) and has published widely on welfare politics, contentious politics, and computational social science. He is also co-founder of Enlighty, an AI company originating from his ERC-funded research.
