Anja Zinke-Allmang

Anja is a Research Manager in the Department of Social Policy and Intervention at the University of Oxford. Anja is a mixed methods researcher focusing on the epidemiology of violence against women and children, child marriage, sexual health, and social norms. She uses quantitative, qualitative, spatial, and mixed method approaches to explore inequities and has a particular interest in creative and arts-based methods and data visualisations.

Anja works across multiple research projects examining the effects of context on shaping health outcomes and inequalities, violence, and health outcomes among young people and women. Anja co-leads a global network of early career violence researchers (Net-VAC) and has co-developed LearnVACS, a free course on how to analyse data on violence to inform the use of data in policy and practice. Anja has over a decade of experience working closely with young people on issues such as mental health, substance use, sexual health, and violence prevention as a social worker, programme evaluator, and researcher and has collaborated with various non-profit, academic, philanthropic, and UN organisations. Prior to DSPI, Anja was a Research Fellow at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, where she still works closely with the Child Protection Research Group.

Anja is also a PhD Candidate at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and Birkbeck, UoL. Her doctoral research examines geospatial variations in intimate partner violence using quantitative and GIS methodologies. Anja has a MSc from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and a joint BA in Sexuality, Marriage, and Family Studies and Business from the University of Waterloo.
